Alea'Zhim

From Oberon_wiki

Far to the south-east of Dominus is the nation called Alea'Zhim. Alea'Zhim is not a member of the Merebian Empire and has, so far, resisted all diplomatic and military attempts to make it a part.

It is a hot, arid country, physically very similar to Saudi Arabia/Iraq. Unlike these two real-world countries though, Alea'Zhim is not rich in oil but precious ores and minerals (gold, silver and diamonds notably).

The people of Alea'Zhim live either in small desert communities or in extended nomadic tribes – moving around the nation to make the best use of it limited vegetation and wildlife. As such, horses and camels are much prized and all Alea'Zhims are taught to ride from a very young age.

Up until recently Alea'Zhim was ruled by a Pharoah – a dynastic monarch revered as a God. However some years ago there was a coup and now there is a crude democracy dominated by the Magi (a group of powerful wizards with links to the Djinn). The Magi are responsible for the treaty with the Empire which has seen a basic network of Touchstones installed at the capital cities of the Imperial Kingdoms.

The people of Alea'Zhim have an uneasy alliance with the Saurians, bipedal lizard people that inhabit the south-west corner of the island. Luckily Saurian lands are completely inhospitable to man and so there is little conflict over ownership.

Alea'Zhimites are darker skinned than Merebians with slightly wider noses and curly (but not necessarily “African”) hair.
