Gaius

Gaius is the 2nd child and eldest male heir to the Imperial throne; the son of Emperor Ephestus and Aurelia.

Gaius was born in 306IC and so is already well into his 30's but has yet to prove himself a leader either politically or militarily. Although his elder sister Davinia would typically be heir to the Imperial throne, Ephestus named Gaius as the next Emperor.

Politically Gaius is a 'dove' and is known to prefer diplomat solutions to many of the Empire's problems. He is also more open than many of his predecessors to allowing some nations, notable Thorast and Lyrazante self-rule by their non-human indigenous people (Dwraves and Elves respectively). This has made him a popular choice in some circles and a deeply unpopular one in others.
