Skariff are a race of bipedal, human-sized 'rat-men' that originate from the island of ”Skaravos”.

Often mistaken for the hybrid form of “were-rats”, Skariff actually have their own rigid clan structure, language and culture and view “were-rats” with the same contempt as one would consider a foolish distant relation (ie they accept they exist but wish they didn't).

Skariff native technology is best termed as “barbaric” as it is barely out of the stone age. They are skilled hunter-gatherers and have even formed rudimentary agrarian communities but otherwise cannot compete with any other humanoid. However they have learnt to trade for weapons and materials and so armed and armoured Skariff are not as uncommon as one might think.

Skariff have a cultural distrust of the sea and rarely build boats capable of holding more than a handful of people. Hence they are very rarely encountered away from Skaravos.

They are are good terms with their neighbours, a community of Wood Elves, and pay homage to Zotaquaan who they see as a “protector” of the island.
