Dominus
The power centre of the Merebian Empire is the land known as “Dominus” and it is controlled by Merebian Empire.
Geography
Dominus is situated in the centre of the Known World and is surrounded by the island nations that make up the Empire, as well as those that are unaligned to any group.
Although it is the largest single landmass in the Known World (at least four times that of Thorast), Dominus is still not a huge nation and is just under 450 miles from West to East and 300 miles from North to South. Traversing the nation is relatively easy thanks to the many excellent roads built by the Legions but Dominus has a greater variety of terrain types than almost any other Imperial nation, from the mountainous region in the centre, to the dry plains of the south, the volcanos in the west to the forests in the north.

Dominus is a land with a history of conquest and this shows most significantly in the 10 major cities of the nation. Nine of these cities were the original city-states conquered by Emperor Darameus over three centuries ago. The tenth, Cinnibar is a relatively new city built to house the nation's ever increasing population and to display the power of the Empire.
Each of the cities is constructed differently and has its own character. At a local level they are even governed slightly differently. In many ways Dominus can bve considered to be 10 very small nations, operating as one.

The decades before the rise of Darameus saw a period of continual low-level skirmishes between these powers, each vying for small gains in material or mineral wealth.
Once Darameus claimed the throne of one of the more stable city-states, Merebia, he began a 20-year long campaign to expand his power-base by assimilating (through force or treaty) neighbouring kingdoms. Upon defeating the last city-state, Draco, the continent was finally united under a single rule and became the home of the Merebian Empire.
The capitol city is called “Merebia” and is located on the east coast of Dominus. It is surrounded by numerous and impressive villas and estates.
The people of Dominus are still referred to as Merebians as homage to the centre of the Empire, even though most people can actually trace their lineage back to other kingdoms and states. The Empire continually reinforces that, regardless of origin, all the people of Dominus are "Merebian".
Merebians are considered the most cultured people of the human races and possess many of the traits of the other human races but in a more balanced proportion.
The forests of Dominus are still home to many other “fae” races such as centaurs, satyrs, dryads and treants. However, as the Empire cuts down these forests for timber and to build settlements, these “fae” races are becoming far more reclusive and have mostly retreated to other lands such as Erganth or the Elven kingdom of Lyrazante.
Physically, Merebians are dark-haired with tanned skins. Many Merebians have “Roman noses”.
