Location

Hirschorn is a village located on the NW edge of Lake Viridian, and is about 8km north of Fort Viridian. Its location at the crossroads on the edge of the lake, coupled with its proximity to the fort, affords this village a good level of trade and protection. Travellers heading further into the mountains towards Hammer Hold or SE towards the southern coast of Thorast are well-advised to stop off here.

Population

Hirschorn is on the verge of being considered a "town" based on its size and defences. The village has a resident population in excess of 700, mostly (65%) Dwarves but with a fair number of Humans (25%). Elves (5%), Tieflings (3%) and Gnomes (2%) make up the remainder of the populace.

Description

Hirschorn is a small, but densely populated walled village with four gates. In addition the NE section of the village is further divided. Although some of the village's residents live outside of the village walls in the surrounding farmlands the vast majority of the village live in apartments within the village itself.

Defences

Hirschorn is, technically, the only village within the catchment area of Fort Viridian. However it has a wooden palisade wall and a permanent Town Watch of 30 men who are really only present to police the drinking establishments and to ensure that the visiting, off-duty, soldiers don't get out of hand,

Inns and Taverns

Due to the presence of the nearby fort, Hirschorn is well-served for places to eat and drink, having two inns and four taverns.

Inns:

  • The Lakeside Inn
  • Mad Lady's Rest
