Dwarves take care to point out that they are distinct from “just” short humans, noting that they have a rich heritage in the arts and crafts including, but not limited to poetry, painting, sculpture, carpentry or blacksmithing. Short and stocky, the average Dwarf stands at about 1.2m (4 feet) tall but weighs as much as an average adult human.

Dwarves are a proud race with a long lifespan (many Dwarves live for over 200 years) who have a great regard for their heritage. Despite this Dwarves also have a dry sense of humour and like to spread lies about themselves (such as all Dwarves speaking with a Scottish accent and Dwarven women only being fertile once every six years) just to confuse gullible humans.

As a race they can be found almost anywhere in the Empire but the largest Dwarven settlements are in Thorast and Karameizanté.

In addition to “High Merebian”, Dwarves speak their own tongue (imaginatively called “Dwarven”).

Perceptions of Dwarves

Of all the non-human races, Dwarves are easily the most accepted. Whether this is just due to their physical similarity, their dour but good-hearted nature or just because they've co-existed happily with humans for many generations is all up for debate. One thing is certain though; love them or hate them, most humans still prefer to have a Dwarf at their side in preference to any other non-human.
