Devils, as a race, fit into a rigid hierarchy of power called "Strata". Each "strata" is considered superior to the one below and each type is awarded progressively more power and autonomy. It is unknown whether a demon of one type can be promoted or demoted to a demon of another type.
The Devil strata are as follows:

- Abishai (White)
- Barbed Devils (Hamatula)
Level 4
- Abishai (Blue)
- Bone Devils (Osyluth)
Level 5
