Named after the indigenous species of the peaks, Fort Basilisk is home to 4 cohorts from two Imperial Army [[Legions]]; the 9th and 10th cohorts of the 62nd and the 1st and 3rd cohorts of the 56th. Hence up to two thousand soldiers are stationed here at any one time.

Fort Basilisk is responsible for all the defence of all the settlements with a 40km radius and hence covers nearly 4800 sq.km. Luckily nearly a third of this is in the uninhabited Hammer Peaks but this is still a considerable area.
