Description

The monastery, like many Dwarven structures is mostly underground. However the surface part consists of a hexagonal building set in a courtyard of statues, each depicting a famous Dwarven warrior from history. Many of these characters are quite obscure and only obsessive students of military history will recognise most of them.

History

The Monastery's history dates back over 600 years (and so is relatively new by Dwarven standards) to a point where the priests of Clangeddin decided to experiment with creating a "school" of combat where the noblest of Clangeddin's worshippers would also be trained in the martial arts by the finest warriors. The results were, at best, mixed.

Although the monastery did produce some very fine Paladins it also became a hot-bed of very militant ideals and a school of though of Dwarven superiority that the Kings found unhelpful, especially as the land cam under Imperial control.

In 200IC the monastery was ordered to stop producing warriors and instead to become a place of peaceful retreat and a hospital serving Dwarves injured in battle. These days, due mostly from its distance from anywhere interesting, it is considered an oddity even to the priests of Clangeddin and only has a few people manning it at any time.
