The Nine Hells are organised in a neat, sequential pattern, as might well be expected of creatures whose very nature is lawful.
The hells, in order from closest to furthest from the Prime Material Plane are:
- Avernus - The First Layer, ruled by Zariel
- Dis - The Second Layer, ruled by Dispater
- Minauros - The Third Layer, ruled by Mammon
- Phlegethos - The Fourth Layer, ruled by Fierna
- Stygia - The Fifth Layer, ruled by Geryon
- Malbolge - The Sixth Layer, ruled by Glasya
- Maladomini - The Seventh Layer, ruled by Baazabul
- Carnia - The Eighth Layer, ruled by Mephistopheles
- Nessus - The Ninth Layer, ruled by Asmodeus
