House Sarris is a moderately influential noble house of Bal-Morath.
Identity
House Sarris is geographically based in the north of Bal-Morath. Unlike the majority of noble houses in Bal-Morath it is entirely Human, having completely escaped the curse when it initially took hold. The House prides itself in never having had any Tiefling members. As such, the members of House Sarris all retain the appearance of the original Bal-Morathians with their dark hair, blue eyes and 'Mediterranean' complexions.
Wealth
House Sarris are the leading producers of cattle in Bal-Morath. Livestock from the rest of the Empire typically has to be transported by ship which is highly expensive so it is far easier for Bal-Morath to be self-sufficient in this regard. Of particular note is Sarris pork, which is sold all over the country. It is often said that if you are in Bal-Morath and you are eating meat then you're paying House Sarris for the privilege. Being a livestock producer also means that Sarris is heavily invested in leather production and tanning.
If one were to rank House Sarris in terms of wealth among the other houses, most people would estimate that they are near the top. They are discrete with their wealth but do not need to borrow from other houses (which has kept them free of influence from houses like Politis).
Politics
House Sarris is one of the more politically active houses and uses it's long history (stretching back nearly 500 years) to manipulate trade with the wider Empire. Initially it did this through exerting influence on Lords of Bal-Morath but since the introduction of the Republic it seeks to maintain influence not through the Council but through dock workers. Although it falls a little way short of unionising dock workers it is fantastically effective at encouraging them to do its bidding by investing wisely in projects that improve workers lives.
Consequently, practically anyone that owns a private port is of particular interest to House Sarris and would be wise not to cross them.
Notable People
House Sarris has had many notable people in its long history, including a number of people that have married into the old royal family and, more recently, into the Imperial line. As a purely human House they are able to assimilate into any of the Imperial structures of power without much notice.
