From its vantage point on the edge of the Hammer Peaks, the huge Imperial fort known as Fort Basilisk provides defence for a significant part of central Thorast.
Named after the indigenous species of the peaks, Fort Basilisk is home to 3 Cohorts from the 62nd Imperial Army Legion (the 6th, 9th and 10th), along with a cohort from the 56th Legion (the 6th). Hence up to two thousand soldiers are stationed here at any one time.
Fort Basilisk is responsible for all the defence of all the settlements with a 40km radius and hence covers nearly 4800 sq.km. Luckily nearly a third of this is in the uninhabited Hammer Peaks but this is still a considerable area.
