Gnomes are able to interact with "[[the Green Veil]]” that separates Terearth from the Fae realms. == Perceptions of Gnomes ==

Gnomes, unlike their other fae-cousins, get a relatively ok deal from humans. Most of the Empire considers Gnomes to be, basically, short slim humourous dwarves. The phrase "mostly harmless" is often used when talking about Gnomes. In fact, unless Gnomes make a point about the harsh treatment of Elves by the Empire, they can expected to be treated nearly as fairly as Dwarves.
Gnomes appreciate Dwarven crafts but resent being mistaken as their relatives. Typically they treat Elves with respect, ingrained from millennia of deference whilst in the Fae Realms. Gnomes find Humans fascinating and actively seek their company. They tend to be neutral to [[Tieflings]], who they feel a little sorry for. Gnomes and [[Ymirkin]] share a culture of oral history and storytelling and so usually get along just fine.
Humans though seem to have two basic stereotypes of Gnomes; mad tinkers or playful fool. Gnomes have one basic stereotype of humans; gullible.

Although often confused with short, slender Dwarves, Oberon Gnomes are actually native of the Fae realms and are distant relations of Elves. Gnomes first appeared on Oberon at about the same time as Elves, possibly escaping the Eladrin as well. The average Gnome is about 0.9 – 1.1m (3 feet) tall.
