The Alliance of Independent Races (or 'the alliance' as it is more commonly referred to) is a loosely aligned group of nations was first brought together by the General in the late 1150's IE.
The Alliance was intended to become a rival to the Merebian Empire and to stop the spread of Imperial ambitions eastwards into non-human territory. This was a major concern for these nations as, since the fall of the 'Shadow Lord', Landryn Teriak, the landmass of Terearth in the region had reduced significantly.
The first act of the Alliance was to invade the kingdom of Chundria, on the basis that one of the best defences is a strong offence. The Alliance managed to hold onto Chundria for nearly a generation until the Treaty of the Eight Thrones which returned Chundria to the Empire and formalised strong national boundaries.
The actual membership of the Alliance revolves around a core of;
- Lucienia - a human nation ruled by the General
- Nallurok - the ancestral home of the Orcs
- Mortrach - ruled by Bugbears and Hobgoblins
When necessary other countries can join the Alliance to benefit from shared interests. Countries that have so far done this are;
- Orkarus - a shared Orc/Goblin nation
- Minosha - the land of the Beastmen (notably, Minotaurs)
